To help ensure safety for our guests, all attendees must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours to enter the event.

Attendees are also expected to wear masks indoors except when eating or drinking.

Please join us for Celebrating Courage: A Wright Fundraiser. Doors open at 6pm. Celebration begins at 6:45pm.

Celebrating Courage will feature entertainment, divine food and libations, along with dancing and a special first look at Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth. This outstanding exhibition profiles revolutionary men-Muhammad Ali, James Baldwin, Ta-Nehisi Coates, W.E.B. DuBois, Kendrick Lamar, and more-who have altered the history and culture of this country. However, the evening will be much more than a lively gathering. 

The Wright will take the evening to pay tribute to Honorees for the impact that their support has had on the museum and the Detroit community. This year's honorees are:

• Mr. Roderick D. & Dr. Linda Gillum
• Ms. jessica Care moore
• Ms. Brunetta Vinson
• Ms. Njia Kai

We will also once again pay tribute to those once among us who have gone on to join the ancestors. We invite you to see the faces and hear the stories of these Honorees, as well as get a sneak peek of upcoming programs.

We hope that even if you cannot attend the event you will support our fundraising efforts by shopping the Auction. This year, the art portion of the auction for the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History was spearheaded by Linda Whitaker and a group of dedicated friends who rallied the artist community in support of The Wright Museum.

The Auction team contacted local and national artists to participate in the auction by providing pieces of fine art and taking part in a very special art for a cause project called the Mini-Masterpiece Movement. The goal of the project was to have highly regarded artists create and donate small scale pieces inspired by the Men of Change exhibition to raise funds to help sustain The Wright for future generations.

As you browse the incredible pieces the artists have submitted, we hope that you will shop knowing that you are not just buying an object, you are supporting local artists and funding the work of this museum. A museum that exists because of the support of people like YOU.
